We Hear God’s Word
Scripture Readings: From the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible
The word that Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2In days to come the mountain of God’s house shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; all the nations shall stream to it. 3Many peoples shall come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of God, to the house of the God of Jacob; that God may teach us God’s ways and that we may walk in God’s paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of God from Jerusalem. 4God shall judge between the nations, and shall arbitrate for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of God!
Responsive Reading Psalm 122
1I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of God!”
2Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem.
3Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together.
4To it the tribes go up, the tribes of God, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of God.
5For there the thrones for judgment were set up, the thrones of the house of David.
6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you.
7Peace be within your walls, and security within your towers.”
8For the sake of my relatives and friends I will say, “Peace be within you.”
9For the sake of the house of our God, I will seek your good.
36“But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Human One, but only God. 37For as the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Human One. 38For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, 39and they knew nothing until the flood came and swept them all away, so too will be the coming of the Human One. 40Then two will be in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. 41Two women will be grinding meal together; one will be taken and one will be left. 42Keep awake therefore, for you do not know on what day your God is coming. 43But understand this: if the owner of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. 44Therefore you also must be ready, for the Human One is coming at an unexpected hour.

As we keep awake for the coming of the Lord, let us offer prayers to God who prepares a light for our path.
For the peace of the world, and for our unity in Christ.
(Prayers may be offered aloud or in silence) Let us pray to God. Come, O God, and save us.
For Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson our Moderator and all our Elders, especially for Rev. Elder Diane Fisher, and all who minister in Christ, and for all the holy people of God. (Prayers may be offered aloud or in silence) Let us pray to God. Come, O God, and save us.
For the church throughout the world and the faithful in every place. (Prayers may be offered aloud or in silence) Let us pray to God. Come, O God, and save us.
For the leaders of the nations and all in authority. (Prayers may be offered aloud or in silence) Let us pray to God. Come, O God, and save us.
For justice, peace, and freedom among peoples of the earth. (Prayers may be offered aloud or in silence) Let us pray to God. Come, O God, and save us.
For travelers, for the sick and the suffering, for the hungry and the oppressed, and for those in prison. (Prayers may be offered aloud or in silence) Let us pray to God. Come, O God, and save us.
For the dying and the dead. (Prayers may be offered aloud or in silence) Let us pray to God. Come, O God, and save us.
For our deliverance from all affliction, strife, and need. (Prayers may be offered aloud or in silence) Let us pray to God. Come, O God, and save us.
Joining our voices with all the saints and angels of God, let us offer ourselves and one another to the living God through Christ. (Prayers may be offered in silence)
O Rising Sun, brightness of light eternal, sun of justice, come and shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death. For we ask this in the name of Christ who has taught us to pray in this spirit saying…
Our Creator who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy dominion come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the dominion, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen
Reception of Tithes and Offerings
Sung Prayer of Dedication:
The Doxology—Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow
Praise God from whom all blessing flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen!
We Commune Together
The Eucharistic Prayer:
God be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to God.
Let us give thanks to our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is truly right and our greatest joy to give you thanks and praise,
O God, creator and ruler of the universe.
You established your people to be a light for the nations, and called us to walk in Your paths and follow your ways. Even now, you are coming to bring justice and peace to the world.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with choirs of angels
with prophets, apostles, and martyrs, and with all the faithful of every time and place
who forever sing to the glory of your name:
Holy, holy, holy, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the One who comes in the name of God.
Hosanna in the highest.
You are holy, O God of majesty, and blessed is Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
In Christ Jesus, you drew near to us for our salvation, teaching us to live in faith and to seek the good of all. Through his dying and rising, you brought life to the world.
To you indeed be thanksgiving, almighty God,
because on the night before he died,
Jesus Christ, took bread;
when he had given you thanks,
he broke it, gave it to his disciples, and said:
Take, eat, this is my
body
which is given for you;
do this to remember me.
After supper he took the cup;
when he had given you thanks,
he gave it to them and said:
This cup is the new
covenant in my blood
poured out for you;
do this as often as you drink it
to remember me.
Remembering your gracious acts in Jesus Christ, we take from your creation this bread and this wine and joyfully celebrate his dying and rising, as we await the day of his coming.
With thanksgiving, we offer our very selves to you to be a living and holy sacrifice, dedicated to your service.
Great is the mystery of faith:
Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
Gracious God, pour out your Holy Spirit upon us and upon these your gifts of bread and wine, that the bread we break and the cup we bless may be the communion of the body and blood of Christ. By your Spirit, unite us with Christ and with your church in all the world.
Keep us faithful and alert for the hour of Christ’s coming. Let us live honorably as children of truth and light, so that we may eat and drink together in your eternal realm.
Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honor are yours, almighty God, now and forever. Amen.

We Go Forth to Live with Christ
The Blessing and Sending Forth:
The time for keeping alert is with us.
The hour has arrived for us to stop sleeping and wake up.
Now is our full salvation nearer than when we first believed.
The night is almost over and the dawn is in the sky.
So let us throw off the trappings of darkness
and dress ourselves for the light.
Jesus, the brightest star of the morning, gives us his promise:
“Look! I am coming quickly.”
The Spirit and the church say “Come!”
Let every one who hears answer, “Come!”
Amen! Even so come, Lord Jesus!
Song to Celebrate the Season
It Came Upon the Midnight Clear by: Caedmon’s Call
It came upon the midnight clear
that glorious song of old
from angels bending near the earth
to touch their harps of gold
peace on the earth, good will to men
from heaven's all gracious king
the world in solemn stillness lay
to hear the angels sing
(Instrumental)
And here beneath life's crushing load
whose forms are bending low
who toil along the climbing way
with painful steps and slow
look, now for glad and golden hours
come swiftly on the wing
And rest beside the weary road
and hear the angels sing
hear the angels sing
hear the angels sing
(Instrumental)
For though the days are hastening on
By prophets seen of old
When with the ever circling years
Shall come the time foretold
When peace shall over all the earth
Its ancient splendor fling
And the whole earth sing back the song
Which now the angels sing
Hear the angels sing
Hear the angels sing (Repeat 6x)

We Go Forth to Live with Christ
The Blessing and Sending Forth:
The time for keeping alert is with us.
The hour has arrived for us to stop sleeping and wake up.
Now is our full salvation nearer than when we first believed.
The night is almost over and the dawn is in the sky.
So let us throw off the trappings of darkness
and dress ourselves for the light.
Jesus, the brightest star of the morning, gives us his promise:
“Look! I am coming quickly.”
The Spirit and the church say “Come!”
Let every one who hears answer, “Come!”
Amen! Even so come, Lord Jesus!
Song to Celebrate the Season
It Came Upon the Midnight Clear by: Caedmon’s Call
It came upon the midnight clear
that glorious song of old
from angels bending near the earth
to touch their harps of gold
peace on the earth, good will to men
from heaven's all gracious king
the world in solemn stillness lay
to hear the angels sing
(Instrumental)
And here beneath life's crushing load
whose forms are bending low
who toil along the climbing way
with painful steps and slow
look, now for glad and golden hours
come swiftly on the wing
And rest beside the weary road
and hear the angels sing
hear the angels sing
hear the angels sing
(Instrumental)
For though the days are hastening on
By prophets seen of old
When with the ever circling years
Shall come the time foretold
When peace shall over all the earth
Its ancient splendor fling
And the whole earth sing back the song
Which now the angels sing
Hear the angels sing
Hear the angels sing (Repeat 6x)
